BACKGROUND

Monksgrange was the childhood home of Charmian Hill, well known as owner of the great Dawn Run (by Deep Run out of Twilight Slave) who is the only horse to have won The Cheltenham Champion Hurdle and The Cheltenham Gold Cup Steeplechase. Mrs Hill learned her horsemanship while growing up with the farm horses that worked the land before the days of the tractor. Dawn Run - Cheltenham Champion Hurdler and Gold Cup Steeplechaser. Her keen interest in thoroughbred breeding and racing were passed on to her son and grandson who now run the farm as a breeding operation for their own horses and for those owned by overseas clients. These clients include the Oaks Stud (New Zealand) Ra Ora Stud (New Zealand) and Bloodstock Breeding PTY, (Australia). Monksgrange has been in the family for 9 generations, and it enjoys a unique ambience through its heritage and tree studded landscape setting.
